

Lucao is located in the southwestern part of Dagupan City it is bounded by Municipality of Calasiao on the Southern portion; Barangay Malued on the southeastern portion; Barangay Tapuac and Barangay Calmay on the Northwestern portion and Municipality of Binmaley on the Western portion. Total land area is 225 square hectares. The population is 7,615 as of year 2002. The Barangay is 3 Km. from the central business district and is about 15-20 minutes ride by car, jeepney or tricycle.
According to many old timers Barangay Lucao, Dagupan City, the name “LUCAO” was derived from the word “Lucan” the vernacular of clam, they say that this bivalve mollusk used to abound in this Barangay Lucao during the old times, when a great portion of its territory, then still unearth by modern civilization, was swampy and teaming with “Nipa” palms and Mangroves.
Then as it is now Oysters, another form of marine bivalve mollusk closely related to clams, were also common and oyster farming has been a major industry in this barangay the place was also well known for its vast rice-land. About fifty percent of its territory also is fishpond.
Today, many of its fishpond and rice-land were already converted into residential and commercial land to name them as to their length of existence first is the former
Peace and Order situation at Barangay Lucao is excellent if not very good aside from the Police at the sub-station about 25 meters is the Barangay Action Center manned by the Duty Officer of the Day compose of the following: one (1) barangay Kagawad as Officer of the Day, two (2) Barangay Security Force (BSF) the Ex-O and two BSF member on the night duty. Barangay Staff Compose of the Administrative Officer; one (1) Barangay Health Worker (BWH); two (2) Barangay Utility Worker; Barangay Secretary and Barangay Treasurer; the Punong Barangay on variable duty.
Barangay Lucao is a peaceful place to live in and also a better place for business investment.
